WARNING #1: “2012 forecast: Food Riots, ghost malls, mob rule terror” is the WorldNet Daily (wnd.com) headline post for a 10/11/09 article by Bob Unruh about Gerald Celente of Trends Research Institute (a noted trends forecaster); with some of Mr. Celente’s bona fides and a few of his predictions.
Here’s some of why we should be worried:
- “USA Today says Celente “has a knack for getting the zeitgeist right,” and CNBC says, ’The man knows what he’s talking about.”
- The Wall Street Journal has said, “Those who take their predictions seriously … consider Trends Research Institute.”
- “Tim Barello in the Examiner noted that since 1980 Celente has made at least 40 accurate predictions about major world events, such as the 1987 stock market crash.
- “Throughout the 1990’s, many other forecasts came true, including the collapse of the Soviet Union, surges in global terrorism, the popularity of spiritual and new age philosophies, public backlash against globalization, upsurges in online shopping, and the 1997 Asian financial crisis, to name a few … “
Here’s some of what Mr. Celente says/predicts:
- “A trends forecaster says the current economic ’rebound” from last winter’s Wall street collapse of banks, insurance companies and automobile manufacturers is an artificial blip created by ’phantom money printed out of thin air backed by nothing.”
- “Gerald Celente … says people right now should be bracing for “the greatest recession” which will hit worldwide and will mark the decline of empire America.” Crop failures could be among the minor concerns.”
- “Here we are in 2012. Food riots, tax protests, farmer rebellions, student revolts. squatter diggins, homeless uprisings, tent cities, ghost malls, general strikes, bossnappings, kidnappings, industrial saboteurs, gang warfare, mob rule, terror,” he writes … .”
- “He forecasts the possibility of a civil war, and says if people want to see what Main Street America will look like, they should “drive around Detroit. Look at all the blown out houses and empty neighborhoods. Look at the violence that’s increasing … .”
WARNING #2: “Could Food Shortages Bring Down Civilization?” is an article by Lester R. Brown, founder and president of the Earth Policy Institute, that comes to us from a number of sources, the latest being from LATOC (lifeaftertheoilcrash.net) on 10/12/09 (See, “Could Food Shortages Bring the Collapse of United States.”) Here are some of the key points from Mr. Brown’s article:
- “In early 2008, Saudi Arabia announced that, after being self-sufficient in wheat for over 20 years, the non-replenishable aquifer it had been pumping for irrigation was largely depleted.
- … officials said thy would reduce by one-eight each year until production would cease entirely by 2016. The Saudis would then import virtually all the grain consumed by their … nearly 30 million people.”
- “Fifteen percent of India’s grain harvest is produced by overpumping its groundwater. … The comparable number for China is 130 million. Among the many other countries facing harvest reductions from groundwater depletion are Pakistan, Iran, and Yemen.”
- “The number of hungry people, … in 2009 jumped to over one billion. With world food prices projected to continue rising … .”
- “We know from studying earlier civilizations … that more often than not it was food shortages that led to their demise. It now appears that food may be the weak link in our early twenty-first century civilization as well.”
Until next time; keep your eyes on the horizon as the weathers changing fast.
