America 2009

America 2009

As of this past Independence Day 2009 the America founded a little more than two hundred years ago with little more than blood and hope finds herself threatened as never before.

We have in the past fought wars, and a civil war, to establish and maintain our freedom as a nation and a people. But perhaps never in all of our history have we ever faced a more daunting challenge than that which raised its head last year in the form of financial and credit destruction.

In believing that we could “have it all” without having first having earned it all and then subscribing to a worse illusion, that we somehow “deserved” it all: we lost our way. We sold our birthright for a bowl of pottage.

In a bit more than two generations we have gone from the world’s largest creditor nation to the world’s greatest debtor nation. Although we technically have the worlds reserve currency, it’s stature is slipping fast. We must borrow overseas daily just to pay our bills We have placed our future and our  fate in the hands strangers.

It is with the foregoing in mind (and thanks to that wise man, Mike Folkerth @ mikefolkerth.com/7-3-09) that we post this warning from, “Thomas Jefferson, 3rd President of the United States of America and author of The Declaration of Independence”:

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

Until next week: keep your eyes on the horizon as the weathers changing fast.
