THE CURRENT ECONOMIC CRISIS-TWILIGHT: The U.S. government has entered the private economy to an extent not seen in peace-time since at least the Great Depression. This morning, beginning at about 8:30AM, the President, the head of the ’Fed’, the Secretary of The Treasury, and the head of The FDIC all spoke to the American people. Their message was in essence “Whatever it takes!”. Whatever that means.
FOOD- A LOOK: Bill Bonner at dailyreckoning.com back on February 25, 2008 commented on an article from the Financial Times entitled “The Next Crisis Will Be Over Food”. The article discussed the outsourcing of food and water supplies with a look at current world conditions and the future and came up with this conclusion: “Our Daily Reckoning suggestion: plant a garden.”
PS: A really interesting (and timely?) article appeared over at the CNN Home Page yesterday: “Lessons from the Great Depression”. It was about what people did and had to do in that period of very severe economic dislocation.
Times are becoming very interesting. Keep your eyes on the horizon.
